ManyChat WHEEL Keyword Trigger Setup Guide

1. Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure you have:

Connect Instagram to ManyChat
- Log into ManyChat at app.manychat.com
- Go to Settings → Channels → Instagram
- Click Connect Account
- Log into your Instagram Business account
- Grant all requested permissions
- Verify the connection shows as "Connected"
Connect TikTok to ManyChat
- In ManyChat, go to Settings → Channels → TikTok
- Click Connect Account
- Log into your TikTok for Business account
- Grant permissions
- Verify connection
Note: TikTok DM automation is in open beta. Some regions may see limits. In TikTok settings, set DMs to "Everyone" so any viewer can message your keyword.
Connect Klaviyo to ManyChat
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Klaviyo
- Click Connect
- Enter your Klaviyo Private API Key:
- Log into Klaviyo → Account → Settings → API Keys
- Create a new Private API Key
- Copy and paste into ManyChat
- Click Connect
- Verify the connection
2. Instagram Setup: Comment Keyword Trigger → DM Flow
Step 1: Create the Flow
- In ManyChat, go to Automation → Flow Builder
- Click + New Flow in the upper right
- Name it:
WHEEL - Instagram Comment Trigger
- Click Create Flow
Step 2: Set the Trigger
- Click on the Starting Step (the first bubble)
- In the right panel, click + Add Trigger
- Select Instagram → Post and Reel Comments
- Configure the trigger settings:
- Target: Select "All new posts and reels" (or specific future posts)
- Keywords: Enter
WHEEL (case-insensitive by default)
- Match type: Select "Contains" (so "WHEEL" anywhere in comment triggers it)
- Click Save
Step 3: Set Up the Private Reply (First DM)
Important: Instagram requires you to also send a public reply to the comment, then follow up with a DM.
- In the Flow Builder, you'll see the trigger is set
- Click the + after the trigger to add a new action
- Select Message → Send Message
- Configure the Private Reply (this is the DM that goes to the user)
Step 4: Create the DM Message Content

Key points:
- No exclamation marks
- No emojis

To add the link:
- In the message editor, highlight "Shop the wheel"
- Click the link icon
- Paste your product URL
Step 5: Add Klaviyo Email Capture (Optional but Recommended)
After sending the DM, capture the user's email for follow-up:
- Click + after the DM message
- Select Action → Klaviyo - Add Subscriber
- Configure:
- List: Select your Piqki list (or create "WHEEL Triggered Leads")
- Email: Use the
{{instagram_commenter_email}} custom field if available, or create a flow that asks for email
- Click Save
Simpler approach: Skip email capture in the initial DM. Send a follow-up message 1 hour later asking for email:
- Add a Delay action (1 hour)
- Add a Message action:
One more thing — what's your email? We'll send you sizing tips and first access to new releases.
- Add a Condition to capture their reply
- Use Klaviyo - Add Subscriber to add them to your list
Step 6: Turn On the Flow
- Click Save in the upper right
- Click the toggle to Turn On the flow
- Confirm
3. TikTok Setup: Keyword DM Flow
Note: TikTok comment-to-DM automation is more limited than Instagram. The current ManyChat setup works by having users DM you the keyword directly, rather than commenting it. You can mention "DM us WHEEL" in your TikTok captions.
Option A: Keyword Trigger (User DMs You)
This works when users see your TikTok and DM you the keyword "WHEEL" actively.
Step 1: Create the Flow
- Go to Automation → Flow Builder
- Create a new flow:
WHEEL - TikTok DM Trigger
- Click Create Flow
Step 2: Set the Trigger
- Click the Starting Step
- Click + Add Trigger
- Select TikTok → User sends a message
- Configure:
- Keywords: Enter
WHEEL
- Match type: "Contains"
- Click Save
Step 3: Create the DM Response
- Click + after the trigger
- Select Message → Send Message
- Enter the same DM copy:

Step 4: Add Email Capture
Follow the same Klaviyo integration steps as Instagram (Step 5 above).
Step 5: Turn On
- Save and turn on the flow
Option B: Comment Mentions (If Available)
Some TikTok automation tools support comment mentions. If ManyChat adds this feature:
- Create a new flow with trigger: TikTok → Comment
- Set keyword to
WHEEL
- The DM flow is the same as Option A
Current limitation check: As of February 2026, ManyChat's TikTok comment automation is limited. Most users set up Option A (keyword in DMs) and direct TikTok viewers to "DM us WHEEL" in their video captions.

6. Spark Ads Connection
What Creators Need to Do
When running Spark Ads (boosted creator posts), the keyword trigger still works because:
- Spark Ads amplify organic posts
- Comments on boosted posts are still comments on the original organic post
- ManyChat's trigger watches the post, not the traffic source
Instructions for creators:
- Post with keyword instruction in caption:

- Enable comments on the post (Spark Ads require comments to be on)
- Creator grants Spark Ads authorization:
- Creator goes to TikTok → Settings → Content → Spark Ads
- Generates authorization code
- Sends code to Piqki (brand)
- Piqki enters code in TikTok Ads Manager → Tools → Creative Library → Spark Ad Posts
- Post remains live organically — Spark Ads don't change the comment-triggered DM functionality
Why This Lowers CPM
Research finding: n=5 sources (advertisingmojo.com, Reddit r/TikTokAds, refluenced.de) · Confidence: Medium — industry reports suggest Spark Ads frequently deliver lower CPMs than standard in-feed ads because the algorithm favors high-engagement organic content. The mechanism: engaged watch time and comments act as relevance signals, reducing bid requirements over time.
What this means for Piqki:
- When a creator's post gets comments (including "WHEEL" triggers), the algorithm interprets this as high engagement
- High engagement → higher relevance score → lower CPM
- The DM flow doesn't just capture leads — it may actively lower your ad costs
